The crackles in the glazed surface caused by rapid cooling of the pot are blackened by smoke from burning sawdust. The top is unglazed.
It was made on the potter’s wheel and the top reformed while still wet
It was fired at a low temperature to maximise on the carbonised crackles and therefore is porous and not suitable for food or liquid use.
Raku pots are decorative, and not suitable for food or liquid use.
