These striking black wiggly lines are made by applying horsehair which carbonises permanently on to the pot at 7-800 degrees. Each pot is unique because of the unpredictability of this process. The beautiful colour and patterns on this bottle only appear when firing to a relatively low temperature. Therefore it is porous and cannot be used for food or liquid.
Horse or human hair can be added to a special commemorative pot. Please contact Cherry if you would like one. Prices start at £50 each, sizes can be discussed.
Raku pots are decorative, and not suitable for food or liquid use.
