Kintsugi is the art of mending broken ceramics with gold. This expresses the Japanese philosophy that often our weakest points can be our greatest strengths.
The crackles in the glazed surface caused by rapid cooling of the pot are blackened by smoke from burning combustibles including sawdust and paper. Parallel glazed lines are scribed with a slip trailer.
Raku pots are decorative, and not suitable for food or liquid use.
