Red scraffitoed raku dish
The crackles in the glazed surface, caused by rapid cooling of the pot are blackened by smoke from burning sawdust.
The patterns in the unglazed smoked rim were incised while the pot was still soft when it had just been thrown on the potter’s wheel.
This pot has been fired at a low temperature to maximise on the carbonised crackles and therefore is porous and not suitable for food or liquid use
